Breed Info The Pointer, whilst alleged to have originating in Spain has developed, over the past two or three centuries, into a truly English breed. Described as a large breed in the Gundog Group (Dogs 25-27 ins and Bitches 24-26 ins at the withers) they have been bred for their ability and aptitude for "pointing" game. The breed has a distinctive elegance and sleek muscularity to carry them over large areas with remarkable speed. The more usual colours for this breed are:- Orange & White; Lemon & White; Black & White and Liver & White, although Self colours and Tri colours are accepted as correct. Despite being a true working dog, the Pointer is more than capable of fitting in with family life. Given the acknowledgment and respect they deserve the Pointer can be considered as a true family friend .
